Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to laboring patients and their families
• Monitor fetal heart tracings and intervene or escalate concerns promptly
• Perform neonatal resuscitation following NRP guidelines when required
• Administer medications and advanced cardiac life support per ACLS protocols
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, neonatologists and the care team for safe deliveries
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the patient record
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, postpartum care and newborn safety
• Participate in unit competency testing and quality improvement activities

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Iowa or compact where applicable)
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP and PALS certifications required
• AWHONN certification and fetal heart monitoring competency required
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
• Ability to pass license/certificate verification, Trinity 10 panel drug screen, fit testing and color vision testing
• Up-to-date immunizations (Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella) and TB screening per facility policy
• Strong clinical judgment, teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Active RN license required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven knowledge of labor and delivery nursing and fetal monitoring best practices
• Skilled in neonatal resuscitation and initial newborn stabilization
• Competent performing and interpreting fetal heart tracings
• Comfortable with emergency responses and ACLS protocols
• Excellent patient education, family-centered care and bedside manner
• Ability to complete required competency testing and maintain documentation
