Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to laboring patients from admission through delivery
• Monitor fetal status and maternal well-being using fetal monitoring and appropriate assessments
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate post-delivery care as needed
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesia, and pediatrics to ensure safe outcomes
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the clinical record
• Educate patients and families about labor progress, delivery options, and postpartum care
• Participate in unit competency testing and skills checklists to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse licensure with verification (ability to obtain/verify Ohio licensure required)
• BLS certification (required)
• NRP certification (required) with demonstrated neonatal resuscitation skills
• NIHSS certification (as listed in credentials)
• Successful completion of Trinity specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist
• Up-to-date immunizations and required health screenings (fit test, drug screen, TB testing, COVID-19, MMR, Hep B, influenza, varicella)
• Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills suited to a fast-paced L&D unit

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in fetal monitoring and interpretation
• Skilled in labor support and delivery nursing practices
• Neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn assessment
• Accurate clinical documentation and triage assessment
• Ability to follow unit protocols and participate in competency-based evaluations
• Comfortable working within multidisciplinary teams and escalating concerns appropriately
