Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care on a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit
- Monitor telemetry and promptly identify and escalate cardiac or clinical changes
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
- Perform thorough patient assessments and maintain clear, concise documentation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement care plans
- Educate patients and families on condition, treatment, and discharge planning
- Complete required competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa or compact license holder
- BLS certification required; ACLS required
- TNCC and NIHSS certifications required
- Recent experience in Medical-Surgical Telemetry or telemetry monitoring
- Ability to pass Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
- Compliance with required health screenings: fit test, drug screen, immunizations and titers
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong telemetry monitoring and EKG rhythm recognition skills
- Sound medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
- Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Clear communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Comfort with unit-specific competency testing and checklist-driven workflows
