Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team in cardiovascular operating room cases by preparing sterile instruments and supplies
• Maintain sterile field and anticipate surgeon needs to keep procedures efficient and safe
• Perform instrument and equipment checks including specialty CVOR devices before cases
• Collaborate with circulating staff and anesthesia to ensure coordinated patient care
• Participate in required competency testing and checklist completion to meet facility standards
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and Trinity-required health screenings

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• License/certificate verification as required by facility
• Willingness to complete Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings per facility policy (COVID-19, Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, PPD/IGRA, fit test, physical, drug screen)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong CVOR surgical instrumentation knowledge and sterile technique
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and anticipate procedural needs
• Familiarity with cardiovascular OR workflows and specialty equipment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a perioperative setting
• Attention to detail for documentation, instrument counts, and safety checks
