Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the surgical team in cardiovascular operating room cases by preparing sterile instruments and supplies
- Maintain sterile field and anticipate surgeon needs to keep procedures efficient and safe
- Perform instrument and equipment checks including specialty CVOR devices before cases
- Collaborate with circulating staff and anesthesia to ensure coordinated patient care
- Participate in required competency testing and checklist completion to meet facility standards
- Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and Trinity-required health screenings
Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- License/certificate verification as required by facility
- Willingness to complete Trinity Skills Checklist and Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing
- Up-to-date immunizations and health screenings per facility policy (COVID-19, Tdap, MMR, Hep B, Influenza, Varicella, PPD/IGRA, fit test, physical, drug screen)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong CVOR surgical instrumentation knowledge and sterile technique
- Ability to work calmly under pressure and anticipate procedural needs
- Familiarity with cardiovascular OR workflows and specialty equipment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in a perioperative setting
- Attention to detail for documentation, instrument counts, and safety checks
