Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents' speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based assessments
- Develop individualized treatment plans that set clear, measurable goals
- Provide skilled therapy interventions focused on improving communication and safe swallowing
- Collaborate with nursing, nursing assistants, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Document progress and treatment outcomes accurately and timely in the patient record
- Educate residents and families on strategies to support communication and safe feeding at home
- Participate in care planning meetings and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions
Qualifications
- Valid Texas license for Speech-Language Pathology or ability to obtain state licensure prior to start
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or equivalent clinical certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Clinical experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or rehabilitation settings preferred
- Professional, compassionate communicator who enjoys working with older adults
- Available for a 13-week contract starting 2025-12-22 through 2026-03-23
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field
- ASHA certification (CCC-SLP) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong assessment and treatment planning skills for speech, language, cognition and swallowing
- Experience with documentation systems and regulatory compliance in post-acute care
- Skilled in caregiver and family education to support carryover of therapy gains
- Good time management and caseload prioritization to deliver quality care
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
