Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic radiographic, portable, C-arm and fluoroscopic procedures with professionalism and precision
• Operate imaging equipment and capture high-quality images while following ALARA and radiation protection principles
• Position patients with compassion and clear communication to ensure comfort and optimal imaging results
• Review clinical history and imaging orders, escalating concerns to radiologists as needed
• Process and QA images, submit studies via PACS and document procedures in the EMR accurately
• Assist radiologists during fluoroscopic and special procedures and prepare/assist with contrast media administration
• Provide patient education and clear instructions before, during, and after imaging procedures
• Initiate basic life support when necessary and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Mentor and instruct radiography students and new technologists, sharing best practices and expertise

Qualifications

• ARRT Radiography registration required
• IEMA-DNS radiography accreditation required for practice in Illinois
• Approved CPR/BLS certification (must be obtained within 90 days if not current)
• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
• Minimum of 2 years of radiography experience
• Demonstrated ability to operate PACS, RIS and electronic medical records
• Comfortable with portable radiography, C-arm operation and fluoroscopy
• Willingness to work weekend nights, participate in on-call and holiday rotations

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Radiologic Technology

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of radiographic positioning and imaging techniques
• Fluoroscopy and C-arm operation experience
• Expertise with PACS, Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and EMR workflows
• Image capture, processing and quality control proficiency
• Understanding of radiation protection principles (ALARA) and safety incident reporting
• Comfort initiating basic life support and managing emergent imaging needs
• Excellent patient communication, education and comfort skills
• Ability to mentor students and train new technologists
