Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions and assistive device training to support patient independence
- Evaluate functional status and develop individualized treatment plans focused on activities of daily living
- Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and other team members to coordinate care and achieve patient goals
- Document patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge recommendations clearly and timely
- Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety strategies, and adaptive equipment
- Maintain professional standards, follow facility protocols, and contribute to a positive care environment
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Current ability to practice in California (state registration or licensure as applicable)
- Minimum relevant experience working in occupational therapy settings preferred
- Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort with common therapy software
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; compassionate, patient-centered approach
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or must obtain upon hire
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent program completion
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment and treatment planning for ADLs and functional mobility
- Experience with adaptive equipment recommendations and training
- Skilled in therapeutic techniques to improve fine motor and upper-extremity function
- Clear clinical documentation and outcome tracking
- Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
- Time management and caseload organization for a part-time assignment
