Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions and assist patients with mobility, strength, and functional activities
• Implement individualized treatment plans developed by the supervising physical therapist and document patient progress
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety techniques, and recovery expectations
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care
• Monitor patient responses to treatment and report changes or concerns to the physical therapist promptly
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and assist with equipment setup and safety checks

Qualifications

• Active or eligible for a California PTA license (required prior to working independently as applicable)
• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• Previous experience in outpatient or acute rehab settings preferred
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited PTA program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and assistive device instruction
• Knowledge of documentation standards and electronic medical records
• Familiarity with modalities commonly used in physical therapy practice
• Ability to assess patient mobility, balance, and functional limitations
• Good clinical judgment, time management, and teamwork skills
