Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess residents' communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based evaluation tools
• Develop individualized treatment plans that make a meaningful difference in daily function
• Provide skilled therapy interventions for speech, language, cognitive-communication, and dysphagia
• Document treatment progress clearly and timely in the facility’s medical record system
• Collaborate with nurses, PT/OT, dietary staff, and families to coordinate comprehensive care
• Educate nursing staff and caregivers on strategies to reinforce therapy gains throughout the day
• Participate in care planning and discharge planning to support resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
• Current state SLP license in Texas or eligibility to obtain licensure prior to start
• ASHA CCC-SLP strongly preferred
• Minimum clinical experience in skilled nursing or long-term care preferred
• Comfortable with dysphagia management, cognitive-communication disorders, and AAC strategies
• Strong documentation skills and experience with electronic medical records
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in bedside swallow evaluations and dysphagia treatment
• Proficient with adult speech, language, and cognitive-communication therapy
• Familiarity with AAC devices and compensatory strategies
• Strong clinical reasoning and outcome-driven treatment planning
• Clear communicator who works well with interdisciplinary teams and families
• Organized documentation and time management to meet productivity and compliance expectations
