Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents' functional status and design individualized occupational therapy plans
- Implement therapeutic activities to improve independence with activities of daily living
- Document progress clearly and timely to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with nursing, rehab team, families, and physicians to optimize outcomes
- Train staff and family members on therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment
- Participate in discharge planning and safe transitions to the next level of care
Qualifications
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in Texas or eligible to obtain Texas licensure
- OTR credential or equivalent state licensure for independent practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willing to obtain)
- Experience working in skilled nursing or long-term care settings preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills
- Ability to complete a 13-week travel assignment and work a 36-hour week
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) required; OTD preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL/IADL assessment and intervention
- Proficient with adaptive equipment and environmental modifications
- Knowledgeable in restorative and compensatory techniques for mobility and function
- Able to create measurable, resident-centered goals and progress notes
- Comfortable collaborating within an interdisciplinary care team
