Shift Type: Rotating nights, 3x12 (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), includes Thursday night coverage and rotating weekends (approximately every 5th weekend)

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection accurately and compassionately
• Conduct Blood Bank testing following established protocols
• Process and monitor blood cultures, plate cultures and read gram stains when required
• Follow COVID PPE and isolation room procedures to keep patients and staff safe
• Prioritize and multitask across laboratory sections while maintaining quality
• Work independently to run tests, troubleshoot issues and document results
• Communicate results and concerns clearly with clinical staff and leadership
• Support weekend and holiday coverage on a rotating basis

Qualifications

• Graduated from an approved Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician program
• MT or MLT credential (as applicable) and proficiency in phlebotomy
• Experience or demonstrated ability in Blood Bank testing
• Microbiology experience preferred; must be able to perform gram stains, plate cultures and process blood cultures
• Comfortable working nights, rotating weekends and independently
• Strong communication skills and ability to prioritize in a busy lab environment

Education

• Graduation from an approved MT or MLT program

Knowledge & Skills

• Phlebotomy and specimen handling best practices
• Blood Bank testing and crossmatching fundamentals
• Microbiology techniques: gram stain, plating cultures, blood culture processing
• Infection control, PPE and isolation protocols specific to COVID and other pathogens
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and work with minimal supervision
• Clear, professional communication with clinical teams
