Shift Type: 5 days per week, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM (Day) with 1 night on-call per week, every 5th/6th weekend on-call, rotating holiday call

Candidate Pay Rate: $50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms and instruments for a wide variety of cases including neurosurgery, craniotomy, ENT, orthopedics, GYN, general, pediatrics and DaVinci robotics
- Scrub and assist surgeons during procedures while maintaining strict sterile technique and patient safety
- Set up, troubleshoot, and manage specialty equipment for complex cases
- Float to pre-op, post-op, and the emergency department to support trauma cases when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC and follow hospital charting standards
- Adhere to facility policies including fingernail/professional appearance rules and radius/employment restrictions
- Collaborate with charge nurse and multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient care
- Participate in a one-week unit-specific orientation to integrate into the team effectively
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of surgical tech experience (job indicates 2 years required)
- Demonstrated strong experience in neurosurgery and craniotomy cases (posting requires "3's in Neuro and Crani exp")
- Current BLS certification required
- Driver’s license required at submittal (radius check: candidates must be within 50 miles and not employed by CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity)
- Comfortable working across all service lines — specialization is great but versatility is essential
- Willingness to take scheduled on-call nights, weekends on rotation, and rotating holiday coverage
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Surgical technologist certificate or formal training preferred (if applicable)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven competence with a broad range of surgical procedures and instrumentation
- Experience using EPIC for charting and documentation
- Familiarity with DaVinci robotics cases a plus
- Strong sterile technique and OR safety practices
- Ability to adapt quickly to varied daily surgical schedules and trauma cases
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and willingness to teach and learn from peers
