Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality MRI imaging studies across a wide variety of exams including brain, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis, breast, cardiac, prostate and MSK
- Safely image patients with implanted devices by researching device safety and following MR conditional guidelines
- Start IVs and manage contrast administration with attention to patient safety and documentation
- Operate and troubleshoot MRI scanners (GE 1.5T & 3T at main hospital; Philips and Hitachi in outpatient clinics)
- Accurately document procedures and patient care in EPIC and archive images in Sectra PACS
- Collaborate with radiologists, radiology aides and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient throughput (average ~28 studies/day)
- Support departmental needs including standby rotation and holiday rotation when scheduled
- Maintain compliance with licensing and certification requirements and upload required documentation to the Medical Solutions portal
Qualifications
- ARRT certification required (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- Washington State Radiologic Technologist license with the Magnetic Resonance Imaging designation required per WA rules (effective 07/24/2025) or ARRT(MR) via ARRT Primary Pathway
- Current healthcare provider BLS certification required
- IV skills required for contrast administration
- Minimum 2 years of MRI technologist experience
- N95 fit testing and ability to complete department-specific orientation (12 hours)
- ARRT MRI certification preferred; ARMRIT alone does not meet current SMC licensure requirements unless ARRT MR is achieved
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of MRI safety and MR conditional device protocols
- Experience with EPIC and Sectra PACS for charting and image management
- Familiarity with GE, Philips and Hitachi MRI systems (1.5T and 3T experience helpful)
- Comfort performing advanced exams including cardiac MRI, breast MRI and breast biopsy MRI (preferred)
- Ability to manage a steady daily volume of studies while maintaining quality and patient-centered care
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients, radiologists and the MRI team
