Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts, 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM, rotating across weekdays and weekends (evening/night coverage). Call required: every other weekend (EOW) for many shifts and weekday call 4-8 times per 4-week schedule; guaranteed 36 hours per week.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and sterile instruments for a high-volume OR with up to 14 cases per day
• Assist surgeons and the perioperative team during trauma, orthopedic, general and specialty procedures
• Maintain a strict sterile field and perform proper instrument handling and turnover
• Document procedures and patient care accurately in Cerner Surginet
• Respond to call assignments promptly (30-minute response expectation) and support emergent cases
• Collaborate with sterile processing teams to ensure high-level disinfection and correct sterilization methods
• Support robotics, neuro, vascular and other specialty cases when required, following unit protocols

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) verification required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR or sterile processing experience (trauma, ortho and general surgery experience required)
• Travel experience preferred but not required
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and work rotating 12-hour shifts
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR documentation is a plus

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent
• High school diploma or GED required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and instrument identification
• Experience with trauma, orthopedic (total joint), and general surgery case types
• Comfort with robotics (Da Vinci), CVOR exposure is a plus when requested
• Familiarity with sterile processing equipment: Steris, Sterrad and VP Plasma systems
• High-level disinfection and steam sterilization expertise
• Solid teamwork, communication and the ability to perform under high-volume conditions
• Proficient charting in Cerner Surginet or similar EMR
• Reliable call responsiveness and flexibility for rotating schedules
