Roles & Responsibilities

• Sterilize, decontaminate, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment to the highest safety standards
• Operate and monitor sterilization equipment including Steris and Sterrad systems
• Perform high level disinfection and VP Plasma and steam sterilization processes accurately
• Inspect instruments for functionality and completeness, removing and reporting damaged items
• Maintain precise sterilization documentation and charting in Cerner as required
• Collaborate with OR teams and allied staff to ensure timely instrument availability
• Follow infection control policies and regulatory standards to protect patients and staff

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience
• Certified Sterile Processing Technician through IAHCSMM or CBSPD (required)
• Current BLS certification
• Familiarity with Steris and Sterrad equipment
• Ability to work assigned schedule including evenings and weekends (Wednesday-Sunday common)
• Successful completion of orientation (12 hours) and any facility verification requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CSPDT) via IAHCSMM or CBSPD required
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile processing workflows and infection control practices
• Hands-on experience with VP Plasma, steam sterilization, and high level disinfection
• Competence operating Steris and Sterrad sterilizers
• Strong attention to detail and instrument inspection skills
• Basic Cerner charting experience preferred
• Effective communication and teamwork in an OR environment
