Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate rehabilitative care to residents, delivering therapy plans prescribed by the PT
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, transfers, and functional mobility
- Monitor and document patient progress in the medical record with clarity and timeliness
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families on exercise programs, safety techniques, and equipment use
- Ensure treatment areas and equipment are safe, clean, and ready for use
Qualifications
- Licensed PTA in Rhode Island or eligible for RI licensure
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- BLS/CPR certification (or willing to obtain prior to start)
- Comfortable working in a skilled nursing facility setting
- Any experience level welcome, including new graduates
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong hands-on skills in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and ADL retraining
- Good clinical documentation and charting skills
- Ability to work well with a multidisciplinary care team
- Reliable time management and organizational skills
- Patient-centered communication and teaching abilities
- Familiarity with SNF care patterns and safety protocols
