Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust the plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
• Provide clear instructions and education to patients and families about respiratory disease processes and treatments
• Deliver physician-ordered respiratory care, maintaining clear communication with medical and nursing staff
• Plan, implement, and evaluate respiratory therapies to ensure optimal patient results
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and serve as a role model for best practices
• Accept reassignment to other units when necessary to support patient needs

Qualifications

• RRT or CRT credential required (RRT preferred)
• Active Illinois Respiratory Therapy license
• BLS certification required
• NRP-MHC certification required
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in ventilator management and airway support
• Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent patient and family education abilities
• Clear communication and teamwork within multidisciplinary teams
• Accurate documentation and familiarity with hospital protocols
• Comfort working overnight and managing critical situations
