Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust respiratory care plans as part of the multidisciplinary team
- Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and caregivers about respiratory disease, procedures, and discharge plans
- Deliver physician-ordered respiratory therapies and maintain open communication with medical and nursing staff
- Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care interventions
- Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and serve as a role model for best practices
- Accept reassignment to other units when necessary to support patient care needs
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Active Illinois Respiratory License required
- BLS certification required
- NRP-MHC required
- Associate's degree required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skills
- Ability to develop and modify respiratory care plans based on outcomes
- Excellent patient education and communication skills
- Comfortable collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
- Familiarity with respiratory equipment, monitoring, and documentation
