Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust respiratory care plans as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Deliver respiratory therapies and procedures ordered by physicians while staying in close communication with nursing and medical staff
- Provide clear, compassionate education and instructions to patients and their families about respiratory disease processes and discharge plans
- Plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory care interventions
- Share clinical knowledge and serve as a role model for staff and students
- Accept reassignment to other units when necessary to support patient care needs
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required
- Active Illinois Respiratory Care License required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- NRP-MHC required
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy required
Education
- Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in ventilator management and airway care
- Ability to assess patient respiratory status and modify plans of care
- Clear, patient-focused teaching and communication skills
- Comfort working nights and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Clinical judgment and the ability to supervise and mentor students/staff
