Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide pediatric SLP evaluations and evidence-based treatment for children with neurodevelopmental needs, including autism and language delays
- Document all care thoroughly in EPIC (required) to ensure continuity and billing accuracy
- Develop and update individualized plans of care, complete reassessments, and discharge planning
- Recommend and implement augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies and communication boards when appropriate
- Deliver family-centered education and coaching so caregivers can carry therapy goals into daily life
- Perform standardized and informal assessments (CELF, PLS-4, Rossetti, non-evaluative screens) and interpret results for care planning
- Coordinate with PT, interpreters, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain patient safety practices, recognize signs of abuse, and follow mandated reporting procedures
Qualifications
- CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence) strongly preferred/required
- State Speech-Language Pathology license for Washington (must be active)
- BLS certification (required)
- Experience in pediatric outpatient settings and comfort working with children with autism and their families
- Proven proficiency with EPIC documentation (required)
- Travel experience required — unit does NOT accept first-time travelers
- If previously employed at another Providence facility (non-Swedish), separation of at least 3 months is required to be eligible for this travel contract
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage caseloads in a fast-paced pediatric setting
Knowledge & Skills
- EPIC charting and point-of-service documentation
- Pediatric evaluations and assessments (CELF, PLS-4, Rossetti, non-evaluative screens)
- Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) and communication boards
- Fluency disorders, language disorders, and developmental delay management
- Dysphagia screening and bedside swallow evaluation (preferred)
- Medicaid billing basics, SLP evaluation coding, concurrent therapy documentation
- Patient/family education techniques and safety awareness (signs of abuse)
- Experience with diverse pediatric diagnoses: autism, ADHD, prematurity-related complications, stuttering, articulation disorders
