Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients rapidly and accurately to determine care needs
- Plan and implement individualized nursing care and patient education
- Initiate appropriate interventions and coordinate with the care team
- Perform stroke and trauma-related care following hospital protocols
- Document assessments, plans, interventions, and patient progress
- Promote patient safety and evidence-based nursing practices
- Contribute to quality improvement and professional development activities
- Provide leadership and mentorship within the clinical setting
Qualifications
- Current Montana Registered Nurse licensure (required)
- American Heart Association BLS (required)
- American Heart Association ACLS (required)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required)
- AHA PALS or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (required)
- Competence and willingness to practice modified primary nursing
- Minimum 1 year emergency nursing or critical care experience (required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing - preferred (BSN preferred; ADN acceptable if licensed RN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Sound judgment, patience, and professional demeanor
- Ability to function in a busy, high-acuity emergency environment
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork orientation
- Ability to complete assignments accurately with minimal oversight
- Comfort with on-call responsibilities and variable shift patterns
- Familiarity with trauma and stroke care standards and requirements
- Physical stamina for frequent standing, lifting, and patient handling
