Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory analyses and accurately report results following departmental procedures and regulations
• Maintain quality control and ensure all testing meets established standards
• Perform routine equipment maintenance according to schedules and instructions
• Correlate lab results with clinical findings through chart review and consult with nursing and medical staff when needed
• Provide friendly, professional phlebotomy services and specimen collection with patient comfort as a priority
• Support front-desk duties as receptionist/phlebotomist as required to keep the clinic running smoothly
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and healthcare policies

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification preferred
• Current state licensure/certification if required by Vermont regulations
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred
• Comfortable performing venipuncture and handling a variety of specimens
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with clinical staff
• Willingness to work evening and night shifts as part of a 3x12 schedule

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Venipuncture and specimen collection best practices
• Specimen labeling, handling, and proper chain-of-custody procedures
• Basic lab instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting
• Understanding of quality control and CLIA-related requirements
• Familiarity with electronic health records and chart review
• Customer service skills for patient-facing interactions
