Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory analyses and accurately report results following departmental procedures and regulations
- Maintain quality control and ensure all testing meets established standards
- Perform routine equipment maintenance according to schedules and instructions
- Correlate lab results with clinical findings through chart review and consult with nursing and medical staff when needed
- Provide friendly, professional phlebotomy services and specimen collection with patient comfort as a priority
- Support front-desk duties as receptionist/phlebotomist as required to keep the clinic running smoothly
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and healthcare policies
Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification preferred
- Current state licensure/certification if required by Vermont regulations
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred
- Comfortable performing venipuncture and handling a variety of specimens
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with clinical staff
- Willingness to work evening and night shifts as part of a 3x12 schedule
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Venipuncture and specimen collection best practices
- Specimen labeling, handling, and proper chain-of-custody procedures
- Basic lab instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting
- Understanding of quality control and CLIA-related requirements
- Familiarity with electronic health records and chart review
- Customer service skills for patient-facing interactions
