Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor nursing teams across MedSurg and Emergency Departments to raise the standard of care
- Serve as the bridge between staff, physicians, Clinical Managers, and the CNO to solve problems cooperatively
- Develop and drive departmental goals, quality improvement projects, and evidence-based practice in ED/Trauma
- Design and implement staffing plans while providing regular direct patient care
- Manage fiscal responsibilities: assist with annual operating and capital budgets
- Oversee policies, procedures, scopes of service, contracts, and ensure regulatory compliance
- Monitor performance metrics, approve timecards/time-off, and support an accurate payroll process
- Recruit, hire, evaluate, and develop staff — build a team that stays and thrives
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role (explicitly required)
- Experience working in Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department settings (explicitly required)
- Proven ability to lead performance improvement and evidence-based practice efforts
- Experience with departmental fiscal management, staffing plans, and policy implementation
- History of mentoring, training, supervising, and performing annual evaluations and competencies
Knowledge & Skills
- Shared governance and strategies to increase nurse engagement and retention
- Performance improvement, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance
- ED/Trauma-focused clinical and operational knowledge
- Policy and procedure development, workflows, and contract management
- Strong problem solving, collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, and communication skills
- Ability to implement staffing plans and oversee day-to-day departmental operations
