Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate residents and develop individualized, functional treatment plans
- Provide evaluations and therapy for communication disorders and dysphagia, including modified barium swallow assessments
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and the care team to coordinate treatment and discharge planning
- Document all evaluations, interventions, and resident responses clearly and promptly
- Recommend and train residents and caregivers on communication and swallowing assistive devices
- Monitor progress and adjust therapy plans to meet meaningful long- and short-term goals
- Provide education and in-services to staff and caregivers to improve resident outcomes
- Participate in program development to enhance speech therapy services
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
- State Speech and Language Pathologist license required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred
- Able to perform physical duties including lifting up to 50 pounds with assistance when needed
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology

- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
- Excellent documentation and time management abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clinical documentation systems
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and reimbursement regulations
- Compassionate, resident-centered approach with strong interpersonal skills
- Analytical skills for clinical decision making and treatment planning
