Roles & Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and manage credentials files for all categories of medical staff
- Perform initial credentialing and recredentialing verification accurately and timely
- Track credential and license expiration dates and communicate renewal steps to providers
- Compile and organize documentation for focused professional practice evaluation (PPE)
- Support Medical Staff Committees by scheduling meetings and preparing/recording minutes
- Draft, edit, and finalize letters, memos, and routine correspondence with correct grammar and format
- Maintain the credentialing database and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Collaborate with Medical Staff, nursing, administration, and clinic teams as a reliable liaison
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business Administration or equivalent training/experience
- Minimum 2 years office experience including word processing and transcription
- Familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and common office programs
- Typing speed of approximately 40 WPM
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professional communication with staff and public
- Preferred: Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) — applicants should pursue certification within 4 years of start
Education
- Associate's degree in Business Administration or equivalent training/experience
- CPCS preferred (pursue within 4 years if not already certified)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of corporate operations and regulatory/accreditation standards
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Customer service orientation and diplomatic interpersonal skills
- Analysis and critical thinking with keen attention to detail
- Multi-tasking, prioritization, time management, and meeting deadlines
- Experience with credentialing databases and document management
- Transcription and word processing skills
