Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures by anticipating needs and passing instruments
• Prepare, clean, process, and sterilize instruments and equipment to meet infection control standards
• Set up operating rooms, restock supplies, and monitor PAR levels to ensure readiness for cases
• Perform sterile processing competency tasks including biological testing of sterilizers and evaluate results
• Accurately function in both circulator and assistant roles as needed to support patient care
• Maintain and update preference cards, prepare OR schedules, and support efficient case flow
• Check and operate OR and PACU equipment, including monitors, crash carts, sterilizers, and warming units
• Communicate clearly with RNs, surgeons, and other departments to maintain a safe operating environment

Qualifications

• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• BLS certification required
• Completion of a CST program preferred
• Minimum 1 year surgical tech experience preferred
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and perform under pressure
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Comfortable working on a rotating call schedule with a 30-minute response expectation

• Operating Room procedures and surgical instrumentation
• Infection control practices and biological testing of sterilizers
• EMR navigation and strong computer skills
• Inventory and preference card management
• OR fire safety and equipment operation
• Patient assessment and perioperative support
