Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents—assist with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to the nurse in charge
- Support a safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Document resident care and observations clearly and timely in facility records
- Collaborate with nursing staff and the care team to deliver person-centered care
- Assist with meal service and ensure dietary needs/preferences are respected
- Help residents maintain dignity and independence through respectful communication and encouragement
Qualifications
- Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification in Maryland
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current TB screening and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
- Background check and drug screen clearance
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous long-term care or nursing home experience preferred but new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Knowledge of basic infection control and PPE use
- Ability to take and record vitals accurately
- Familiarity with resident-centered care and dignity-focused approaches
- Good observational skills and ability to communicate changes in condition
- Basic documentation skills; quick learner with electronic or paper charting
