Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents—assist with activities of daily living like bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to the nurse in charge
• Support a safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
• Document resident care and observations clearly and timely in facility records
• Collaborate with nursing staff and the care team to deliver person-centered care
• Assist with meal service and ensure dietary needs/preferences are respected
• Help residents maintain dignity and independence through respectful communication and encouragement

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification in Maryland
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Current TB screening and up-to-date immunizations as required by facility
• Background check and drug screen clearance
• Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous long-term care or nursing home experience preferred but new grads welcome

Education

• High school diploma or GED; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
• Knowledge of basic infection control and PPE use
• Ability to take and record vitals accurately
• Familiarity with resident-centered care and dignity-focused approaches
• Good observational skills and ability to communicate changes in condition
• Basic documentation skills; quick learner with electronic or paper charting
