Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to residents including assistance with activities of daily living
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report any changes
- Assist with feeding, bathing, dressing and mobility while preserving dignity
- Document care performed clearly and timely in the patient record
- Communicate effectively with nurses and the care team about resident needs
- Follow infection control and safety procedures to maintain a healthy environment
- Support a warm, respectful culture that prioritizes resident comfort and quality of life
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent required for Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Minimum one year of direct care experience preferred but new grads welcome
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB test as required by facility
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Reliable, compassionate, and able to work independently on assigned shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- GNA certification or equivalent required
Knowledge & Skills
- Comfortable performing personal care and assisting with ADLs
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, skin checks, simple wound observation
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow care plans and document accurately
- Knowledge of infection prevention and resident safety practices
- Empathy and patience when working with older adults
