Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to nursing staff
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Document care and observations clearly in the chart so the care team stays informed
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Communicate compassionately with residents and families to promote dignity and comfort
- Collaborate with the nursing team to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- GNA or CNA certification (current and valid for Maryland)
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings (TB, immunizations)
- Prior experience in long-term care or similar setting preferred but new grads welcome
- Reliable transportation and ability to work the scheduled night shift
- Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA/CNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care and comfort measures
- Taking and documenting vital signs
- Infection control and hand hygiene practices
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Clear, respectful communication with residents and team members
- Basic charting and familiarity with electronic or paper records
