Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered occupational therapy interventions under the direction of supervising OT
- Implement treatment plans that support activities of daily living, fine motor skills, and functional independence
- Document patient progress and treatment notes accurately and timely in the facility’s charting system
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and achieve patient goals
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic activities and safe techniques to improve function
- Assist with adaptive equipment recommendations and home program planning to support long-term outcomes
- Maintain a safe, compassionate environment while following facility policies and infection control practices
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification (NBCOT) or equivalent required
- Active New Jersey licensure or eligibility to be licensed as an occupational therapy assistant
- Minimum clinical experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills and enthusiasm are encouraged to apply
- BLS/CPR certification required or obtain upon hire
- Clear background check, immunizations, and TB screening per facility policy
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field; COTA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in executing occupational therapy treatment plans and therapeutic activities
- Familiarity with documentation best practices and electronic medical records
- Ability to assess functional mobility, ADLs, and adaptive needs
- Patient-focused approach with strong interpersonal and coaching skills
- Good time management and caseload prioritization
- Basic knowledge of safety, infection control, and equipment handling
