Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered occupational therapy interventions under the direction of supervising OT
• Implement treatment plans that support activities of daily living, fine motor skills, and functional independence
• Document patient progress and treatment notes accurately and timely in the facility’s charting system
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and achieve patient goals
• Educate patients and families on therapeutic activities and safe techniques to improve function
• Assist with adaptive equipment recommendations and home program planning to support long-term outcomes
• Maintain a safe, compassionate environment while following facility policies and infection control practices

Qualifications

• Current COTA certification (NBCOT) or equivalent required
• Active New Jersey licensure or eligibility to be licensed as an occupational therapy assistant
• Minimum clinical experience preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills and enthusiasm are encouraged to apply
• BLS/CPR certification required or obtain upon hire
• Clear background check, immunizations, and TB screening per facility policy
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field; COTA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in executing occupational therapy treatment plans and therapeutic activities
• Familiarity with documentation best practices and electronic medical records
• Ability to assess functional mobility, ADLs, and adaptive needs
• Patient-focused approach with strong interpersonal and coaching skills
• Good time management and caseload prioritization
• Basic knowledge of safety, infection control, and equipment handling
