Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to help patients regain independence in activities of daily living
- Assess functional abilities, write clear care plans, and track measurable progress
- Recommend and train patients on adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies
- Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient-centered care
- Document evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely in the EMR
- Educate patients and families to support safe discharge and continuity of care
- Support facility quality initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards
Qualifications
- Current, active Occupational Therapist license (ME license required prior to start)
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Bachelor’s/Master’s/OT degree)
- BLS/CPR certification (current) or willingness to obtain prior to start
- Previous experience in geriatric, long-term care, or skilled nursing settings is a plus
- Strong documentation skills and comfort using electronic medical records
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care mindset
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in ADL assessment and intervention planning
- Knowledge of assistive devices, splinting fundamentals, and adaptive equipment
- Familiarity with therapeutic modalities appropriate for geriatric populations
- Ability to perform safe transfers and mobility training
- Proficient documentation and clinical reasoning skills
- Strong interpersonal skills for family education and interdisciplinary collaboration
