Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions to help patients regain independence in activities of daily living
• Assess functional abilities, write clear care plans, and track measurable progress
• Recommend and train patients on adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies
• Collaborate with nurses, PTs, SLPs and interdisciplinary staff to coordinate patient-centered care
• Document evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately and timely in the EMR
• Educate patients and families to support safe discharge and continuity of care
• Support facility quality initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Current, active Occupational Therapist license (ME license required prior to start)
• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Bachelor’s/Master’s/OT degree)
• BLS/CPR certification (current) or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Previous experience in geriatric, long-term care, or skilled nursing settings is a plus
• Strong documentation skills and comfort using electronic medical records
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-centered care mindset

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in ADL assessment and intervention planning
• Knowledge of assistive devices, splinting fundamentals, and adaptive equipment
• Familiarity with therapeutic modalities appropriate for geriatric populations
• Ability to perform safe transfers and mobility training
• Proficient documentation and clinical reasoning skills
• Strong interpersonal skills for family education and interdisciplinary collaboration
