Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality occupational therapy services under the supervision of an OTR, helping patients regain independence in daily activities
• Implement and document individualized treatment plans and progress toward functional goals
• Deliver therapeutic interventions and adaptive technique training for activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, adaptive equipment, and safety strategies
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the patient record and follow facility protocols
• Ensure a safe, therapeutic environment and adhere to infection control and safety guidelines

Qualifications

• Active COTA license or certification in New Jersey (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willing to obtain)
• Previous experience in outpatient, inpatient, or rehab settings preferred (1+ year preferred)
• Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
• Ability to follow supervision and collaborate with OTR and interdisciplinary team

Education

• Associate degree or certificate as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of occupational therapy interventions for ADLs, fine motor, and adaptive equipment
• Experience with patient transfers, therapeutic positioning, and safe handling techniques
• Comfortable with documenting treatment progress in electronic medical records
• Strong clinical reasoning, time management, and patient education skills
• Team player attitude and ability to adapt to changing patient needs
