Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform thorough patient assessments to establish baseline function and goals
- Develop individualized treatment plans focused on safe mobility and functional independence
- Deliver skilled interventions including therapeutic exercise, gait training, and mobility education
- Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Document progress clearly and promptly in the electronic health record
- Coach patients and families on home programs and safe discharge plans
- Contribute to discharge planning to support timely and safe transitions
- Maintain professional standards, safety protocols, and compliance with facility policies
Qualifications
- Current Pennsylvania Physical Therapist license required
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred; relevant physical therapy degree required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification required
- Acute care or inpatient experience preferred
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Education
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred; graduate degree or equivalent in Physical Therapy required
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in patient assessment, mobility training, and therapeutic exercise
- Knowledge of gait training, transfer techniques, and fall prevention
- Experience with documentation in an electronic medical record
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively
- Strong patient and family education skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced inpatient environment
