Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality therapeutic interventions and assist with rehabilitation plans
- Carry out treatment plans under the supervision of the physical therapist
- Perform safe patient transfers, gait training, and therapeutic exercise instruction
- Document patient progress, response to treatment, and any changes in condition
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary team members to optimize outcomes
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and function preservation
- Maintain equipment, follow infection control protocols, and ensure a safe environment
Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in New Hampshire (or compact licensure where applicable)
- Graduate of an accredited PTA program (Associate degree or equivalent)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
- Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and required health screenings
- Previous experience in skilled nursing, rehab, or similar settings preferred (1+ year a plus)
- Strong communication skills and a positive, patient-centered attitude
Education
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic modalities, restorative care, and mobility training
- Skilled in patient handling, transfers, gait training, and safe use of assistive devices
- Proficient documentation skills and familiarity with clinical charting/EMR
- Ability to follow care plans and implement interventions consistently
- Team-focused, adaptable, and able to prioritize patient safety and dignity
