Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on occupational therapy services under the supervision of an OT
- Implement individualized treatment plans to help patients regain independence with ADLs
- Document patient progress clearly and timely in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to deliver coordinated care
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques, home programs, and adaptive equipment
- Maintain therapy equipment and ensure a safe treatment environment
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning and outcome improvement
Qualifications
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential
- Active State of New Mexico license or eligibility for licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; patient- and family-centered approach
- Previous experience in outpatient or rehabilitation settings preferred but new grads encouraged to apply
Education
- Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in implementing OT treatment plans and therapeutic activities
- Comfortable working with adaptive equipment and splinting basics
- Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with EHR workflows
- Good clinical reasoning, time management, and patient education skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
