Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare procedural rooms and set up specialized interventional equipment, including vascular closure systems
- Maintain sterile field and perform scrub or circulator responsibilities during angioplasty, embolization, stent placement and other endovascular procedures
- Assist physicians with complex procedures such as IVC filter placement/removal, chemoembolization, selective visceral angiography and biopsies
- Monitor and document patient status and procedural details in Epic accurately and timely
- Provide post-procedure care, patient education and handoff to the recovery team to ensure safe transitions
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and procedural efficiency
- Troubleshoot equipment and ensure all supplies are available and functioning prior to procedures
Qualifications
- Current RN license in California required
- Minimum 1 year of interventional radiology or vascular procedural experience
- Experience with Epic charting strongly preferred (Epic is used at this facility)
- BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Comfort working as scrub or room circulator in a fast-paced acute care setting
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with physicians and the care team
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current CA RN license; relevant procedural training/experience required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on experience with angioplasty, embolization and stent placement
- Familiarity with vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose)
- Knowledge of IVC filter procedures, liver biopsy, paracentesis and thoracentesis
- Ability to set up interventional suites and manage procedure instrumentation
- Proficient patient monitoring and peri-procedural nursing care
- Understanding of sterile technique and infection prevention in procedural areas
