Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to MedSurg patients with attention to safety and dignity
• Perform thorough assessments, develop individualized care plans, and document outcomes clearly
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while following hospital protocols
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient-centered care and smooth discharges
• Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and follow-up care to support recovery
• Recognize and escalate changes in patient condition promptly to ensure best outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia (or compact RN eligible)
• Current BLS required; ACLS or other certifications preferred depending on unit needs
• Previous MedSurg nursing experience preferred (1+ year recommended)
• Ability to pass hospital credentialing and background checks
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid MedSurg assessment and clinical skills
• Proficiency with EMR documentation and medication administration
• Familiarity with common inpatient equipment and monitoring
• Patient education, discharge planning, and care coordination
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced hospital setting
