Roles & Responsibilities
- Operate GE MRI equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images with precision
- Prepare patients for MRI exams, explain procedures clearly, and ensure comfort and safety
- Follow MRI safety protocols and screening procedures to protect patients and staff
- Position patients and adjust imaging protocols to produce diagnostic-quality studies
- Collaborate with radiologists and clinical staff to deliver timely, accurate imaging results
- Maintain accurate patient records, imaging logs, and documentation in PACS and EMR systems
- Perform routine QC checks and basic troubleshooting to keep the scanner running smoothly
- Adhere to facility policies, including the dress code (dark gray scrubs) and infection control standards
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of MRI technologist experience (required)
- ARRT(MR) certification or equivalent preferred; state licensure as required by Virginia
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated experience operating GE MRI systems is a plus
- Strong patient care skills and excellent communication under pressure
- Ability to work collaboratively within a busy hospital imaging department
Education
- Associate degree in Radiologic Technology, MRI Technology, or related field preferred
- ARRT registration (or equivalent) and any required state certifications
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with GE MRI hardware and imaging protocols
- Solid understanding of MRI safety standards and contraindications
- Familiarity with PACS, DICOM, and basic EMR workflows
- Patient positioning, anatomy knowledge, and cross-sectional imaging principles
- Basic quality control, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance procedures
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment
