Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
- Assist with mobility and safe transfers, always prioritizing dignity and safety
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Document care activities accurately and timely in the chart or electronic record
- Support residents’ daily routines and encourage participation in activities
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Collaborate with the care team to deliver person-centered care that makes a difference every shift
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification valid in Maryland (required)
- Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus but enthusiastic new grads are welcome
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful approach with residents and families
Education
- High school diploma or GED and completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing assistant skills and familiarity with activities of daily living
- Comfortable with safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Knowledge of infection control standards and PPE use
- Good documentation habits and basic comfort with electronic charting or paper records
- Teamwork mindset and the ability to take direction while advocating for residents
