Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist physical therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans to improve mobility and restore function
- Provide direct patient care including therapeutic exercises, stretches, and modalities under supervision
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient progress and therapy outcomes
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Set up, maintain, and ensure safe use of therapy equipment
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with the therapy team and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care
- Adhere to HIPAA, state licensing laws, and facility policies to ensure patient safety and compliance
Qualifications
- PTA degree from an accredited institution (required)
- Valid California PTA license (required)
- CPR certification (preferred)
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar healthcare setting preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate, patient-focused approach to care
Education
- Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) degree from an accredited institution
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong hands-on patient care and mobilization skills
- Proficient documentation and charting practices
- Familiarity with common PT modalities and equipment used in SNF settings
- Ability to teach and motivate patients and caregivers
- Good teamwork, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Understanding of HIPAA and state licensing compliance
