Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and accurately dispense medication orders using Cerner and Omnicell to keep patient therapy safe and on time
• Prepare and oversee sterile compounding and IV admixtures following strict hospital protocols
• Provide clinical pharmacy support across NICU, pediatrics, adult, geriatric and oncology populations to optimize outcomes
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists and the interdisciplinary team to recommend and monitor therapy
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians while maintaining California tech-to-pharmacist ratios
• Perform medication reconciliation, drug utilization reviews and maintain accurate documentation
• Lead or participate in medication safety and quality improvement initiatives to elevate patient care
• Cover required holidays and weekend shifts to ensure continuous, high-quality pharmacy services

Qualifications

• Active California Pharmacist license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience; no new graduates, please
• Sterile compounding experience desired
• Experience in oncology infusion centers is a strong plus
• Pharmacy residency and/or BCPS certification preferred
• Ability to work days, evenings, nights and scheduled weekends and to supervise pharmacy technicians
• Professional appearance and strong teamwork and communication skills

Education

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent; pharmacy residency preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Cerner electronic medical record
• Experience with Omnicell dispensing systems
• Strong knowledge of sterile compounding practices and IV admixture procedures
• Familiarity with California pharmacy laws and tech-to-pharmacist staffing rules
• Clinical competency across NICU, pediatrics, adult, geriatric and oncology populations
• Medication safety, inventory management and charge/clinical pharmacist responsibilities
• Excellent communication, documentation and mentorship skills
