Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic examinations (ABD, OB/GYN and related studies) for radiologist interpretation
• Care for transducers and maintain a neat, organized work area to ensure safety and image quality
• Maintain accurate patient records and complete procedure paperwork promptly
• Participate in departmental quality assurance and help maintain accreditation standards
• Assist with ultrasound invasive procedures and collaborate with referring physicians
• Transfer and position patients safely, providing age-appropriate care across the lifespan
• Step into a leadership role in the absence of a supervisor and support team operations
• Pursue continuing education to stay current with evolving sonography practices and technologies
• Contribute to policy and procedure development and attend department meetings and drills

Qualifications

• Current ARDMS certification in at least one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS) — required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association — required
• Proven ability to perform diagnostic exams relevant to assigned modalities
• Comfortable working with patients of all ages from newborns to geriatric adults
• Willingness to travel between SEARHC sites as needed
• Desire to pursue additional RDMS categories or continuing education (encouraged)

Education

• Current ARDMS certification in one category (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS) — required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of diagnostic medical sonography principles and best practices
• Experience with abdominal and OB/GYN ultrasound exams
• Familiarity with vascular and cardiac ultrasound modalities is a plus
• Understanding of radiation protection principles and patient safety
• Skill in transducer care, Trophon station use, and equipment upkeep
• Ability to perform quality assurance and support accreditation efforts
• Good clinical judgment, documentation skills, and patient-centered communication
