Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the surgical services team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
• Oversee circulating RN duties and ensure adherence to perioperative protocols
• Act quickly and calmly during true emergencies and coordinate appropriate responses
• Identify operational problems in the surgical department and implement short- and long-term solutions
• Delegate tasks effectively to maintain efficient standards of operation
• Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments and peers to optimize patient flow and outcomes
• Support staff development through coaching, training and performance feedback
• Ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation and safety requirements

Qualifications

• Current California RN license - required
• AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications - required
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience with at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery - required
• Bachelor degree (or equivalent) and graduation from an accredited school of nursing - required
• CNOR certification - preferred
• One year post-anesthesia care (PACU) experience - preferred
• Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience - preferred
• Strong written and oral English skills
• Ability to sit/stand up to 4+ hours per day and lift/carry up to 35 pounds as needed

Education

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing - required
• Bachelor degree or equivalent - required

Knowledge & Skills

• Surgical services management and perioperative workflows
• Circulating RN clinical skills and patient safety practices
• Staff supervision, delegation and performance management
• Emergency response and crisis management in the OR setting
• Problem solving and process improvement for surgical departments
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Regulatory and accreditation standards relevant to surgical services
