Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate respiratory care to patients across the hospital
• Assess, treat, and monitor patients with respiratory conditions
• Administer breathing treatments and manage ventilator support
• Collaborate with nurses and physicians to develop individualized care plans
• Document patient responses and adjust therapies as needed
• Educate patients and families on respiratory care and equipment
• Respond quickly and effectively to respiratory emergencies

Qualifications

• Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license
• RRT or CRT credential from the NBRC (RRT strongly preferred)
• Current BLS certification; ACLS may be required
• Previous respiratory therapy experience in an acute care setting preferred
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and airway management
• Skill in administering aerosol medications and respiratory treatments
• Ability to interpret blood gases and pulmonary function test results
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with the care team
• Comfort using electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and high-quality care
