Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor patients' respiratory status, adjusting therapies as needed
• Administer respiratory treatments, including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and airway management
• Operate and maintain ventilators and other respiratory equipment
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other clinicians to create individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and home care strategies
• Document patient care accurately and promptly in the electronic health record

Qualifications

• Active Georgia Respiratory Care Practitioner license or eligibility to obtain
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Previous experience in respiratory therapy, preferably in acute care or long-term acute care
• Strong assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of respiratory therapy modalities, including mechanical ventilation, CPAP/BiPAP, and airway clearance techniques
• Comfort with electronic health records and documentation standards
• Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities
• Excellent interpersonal and patient-education skills
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients effectively
