Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients across medical/surgical and progressive care populations
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor telemetry and EKGs to detect changes quickly
• Manage advanced clinical interventions including arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and short-term ventilatory support
• Operate and troubleshoot multiple IV pumps and other advanced medical equipment
• Deliver safe medication administration and hemodynamic monitoring to achieve positive patient outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — providers, charge nurses, and ancillary staff — to coordinate care from admission through discharge
• Lead clinically by example: precept new staff, provide direction to RN/LPN/CNA teams, and support unit workflows
• Engage patients and families with education and discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions of care

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure (required)
• BLS and ACLS required; PALS required or to be obtained within six months of hire
• Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent Progressive Care or Critical Care experience (required)
• Comfortable with invasive monitoring and life-support skills: A-lines, arterial lines, central lines, chest tubes, ventilator support
• Demonstrated ability to precept and lead clinical staff; strong assessment and critical thinking skills
• EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred; pediatric experience is a plus

Education

• Degree from an accredited Nursing Program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and critical thinking for early recognition of deterioration
• Telemetry monitoring and accurate EKG interpretation
• Ventilator management and noninvasive/invasive respiratory support basics
• Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Central line, arterial line, chest tube, nasogastric tube, and continuous bladder irrigation care
• Proficiency with IV pumps and multiple infusion management
• Discharge planning and patient education
• Strong communication, teamwork, and use of basic clinical/office equipment
