Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, family-centered care to pediatric patients throughout the perioperative continuum
• Prepare the operating room, ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are available and sterile
• Serve as circulating or scrub nurse during surgical procedures, anticipating the needs of the surgical team
• Monitor patient vital signs and anesthesia recovery, advocating for patient safety at every stage
• Document nursing care accurately and collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families before and after surgery

Qualifications

• Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio (or compact state)
• BLS certification required; PALS strongly preferred
• Previous perioperative/OR nursing experience required, pediatric experience highly desired
• Ability to think critically and stay calm in fast-paced surgical settings
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical safety protocols
• Familiarity with pediatric anatomy, physiology, and anesthesia considerations
• Skill in using surgical instruments and OR documentation systems
• Understanding of aseptic practices and infection prevention
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
