Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative nursing care to pediatric patients throughout the surgical journey
- Assist surgical teams during procedures, ensuring a safe and sterile environment
- Monitor patients pre-, intra-, and post-operatively, responding to changes in condition
- Prepare and maintain surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal outcomes
- Document patient care and maintain accurate records in compliance with hospital policies
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or a compact state
- Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
- PALS certification strongly preferred
- Prior OR nursing experience preferred, especially with pediatric patients
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules and patient needs
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation
- Understanding of pediatric anatomy, physiology, and surgical considerations
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children and families
- Ability to handle high-stress situations with composure and compassion
- Teamwork and collaboration within a multidisciplinary environment
