Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room environment and specialty equipment for a broad range of general, endoscopic, ophthalmic, orthopedic, gynecologic and urology procedures
• Scrub and assist during procedures such as colonoscopy, EGD, laparoscopy, hysterectomy, C-section, cataract surgery and total joint replacements
• Monitor patients’ cardiac status and conscious sedation, administer blood products when indicated, and start peripheral IVs as needed
• Provide PACU/recovery care and safe handoffs to ensure optimal postoperative outcomes
• Follow Universal Protocol/time-out procedures, maintain infection control and radiation safety throughout cases
• Document care accurately using Meditech and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Pharmacy, Radiology, PT, Respiratory, etc.)
• Respond professionally to on-call notifications and return-to-facility requests within facility expectations

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in the practicing state (required)
• Minimum 2 years of perioperative/OR nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS and PALS certifications (listed as required)
• Experience with Meditech charting and Omnicell medication systems (preferred/required for documentation)
• Comfort with a broad surgical case mix including endoscopy, general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopedics and OB/GYN
• Willingness to participate in every-3rd-day and every-3rd-weekend on-call rotation
• Flu vaccine required by facility (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative scrub and circulating skills for general OR and ambulatory OR procedures
• Endoscopy skills (colonoscopy, EGD) and experience with Fuji/Olympus endoscopy systems
• Familiarity with Stryker orthopedic equipment, electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
• Administration and monitoring of blood & blood products and cardiac monitoring
• Conscious sedation monitoring, specimen handling/labeling and urinary bladder catheterization
• Infection control, radiation safety, fire safety and malignant hyperthermia awareness
• PACU/recovery care, starting peripheral IVs and effective interdisciplinary communication
