Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to oncology and post-surgical patients
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following chemo protocols when applicable
• Perform thorough assessments and promptly escalate changes in patient condition
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Collaborate with physicians, CNAs, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
• Support and educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Assist with unit procedures such as thoracentesis, echoes, and occasional pelvic exams as needed

Qualifications

• Active RN license (current) — candidates without a valid license will not be considered
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; oncology experience strongly preferred
• BLS certification required
• Chemo certification preferred (nice to have but not mandatory)
• Comfort working with standard med-surg/oncology equipment and in a fast-paced team environment
• Ability to work rotating schedules including required weekend coverage

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical oncology nursing skills and familiarity with chemo-related care
• Proficient documentation and charting in Cerner EMR
• Skilled in patient assessment, medication administration, and post-surgical care
• Experience supporting procedures such as thoracentesis and echo monitoring
• Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-education abilities
• Comfort with typical patient ratios of about 1:4 to 1:5
